Terms and Conditions

Effective September 4, 2026

Acceptance

By downloading, installing, or using Quiet Classes, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the app.

Purpose

Quiet Classes is a productivity tool that attempts to manage Android Do Not Disturb and media volume based on schedules and optional location rules. You are responsible for reviewing every class, location, radius, schedule, and DND policy before relying on it.

No guarantee of silence or delivery

Android may delay alarms, background work, location fixes, or geofence events. Device settings, battery optimization, missing permissions, poor GPS reception, system updates, force-stopping the app, or third-party software may prevent or delay activation and deactivation. Quiet Classes does not guarantee that a device will remain silent or that a notification, call, alarm, or emergency alert will be delivered or suppressed.

Important and emergency communications

Do not rely on Quiet Classes where missing a call, alert, alarm, or sound could affect health, safety, security, legal obligations, or other critical matters. Configure Android's emergency and priority exceptions appropriately and verify the resulting behavior on your own device.

Permissions and device changes

You choose whether to grant the app access to location, Do Not Disturb controls, notifications, exact alarms, and audio settings. The app may change the active DND rule and media volume when its configured conditions match. You can disable a class, revoke permissions, clear app storage, or uninstall the app at any time.

Backups

Exported backup files may contain precise saved coordinates and schedule information. You are responsible for securing, transferring, and deleting those files. Importing a backup replaces the schedules and settings currently stored in the app.

Third-party services

Map tiles, address lookup, APK hosting, donations, and linked pages may be provided by third parties such as Android or Google Play services, OpenStreetMap, unpkg, GitHub, and Buy Me a Coffee. Those services have their own availability, terms, and privacy practices. Quiet Classes is not affiliated with or endorsed by Virginia Tech or those providers.

Open-source license

The Quiet Classes source code is made available under the MIT License. The license governs rights to use, copy, modify, and distribute the source code. These terms govern use of the distributed app and related website.

Disclaimer and limitation of liability

The app and website are provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind to the fullest extent permitted by law. To the fullest extent permitted by law, the developer will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for losses arising from missed or audible communications, location inaccuracies, device settings, data loss, or inability to use the app.

Changes and termination

The app, website, and these terms may be changed or discontinued. Updated terms will be posted here with a revised effective date. You may stop using Quiet Classes at any time.
